Prussia's rise: an aesthetic triumph - Hahn's proposal of marriage to Hannah

A city is bathed in BLACK-WHITE-GREEN. An emergency situation in Münster because its third-division footballers walked through to the German football second tier...

Following a night of celebrations and refueling in pubs and bars, head coach Sascha Hildmann (52) and his team made their way to the main stage in front of the town hall the next morning.

Thousands of fans cheered them on at Prinzipalmarkt, transforming the "good parlor" into a sea of flags. Unbelievable scenes of joy surrounded a team that had pulled off the "miracle of Münster" by returning to the second division with a 2:0 home win against Unterhaching on the final matchday.

Even the lord mayor, Markus Lewe, and his wife, Maria, were swept up in the excitement, singing loudly to "So ein Tag, so wunderschön wie heute." And later, after the players, coaching team, staff, and club representatives had signed the "Golden Book of the City" in the Friedenssaal, they experienced many emotional moments.

The Prussia fans stood close together on the Prinzipalmarkt and cheered on their promotion heroes

However, a particularly special kind of heartbreak was caused by defensive player Alexander "Ali" Hahn (31). The likeable central defender, whose contract was not renewed despite his strong performances, brought his girlfriend Hannah on stage first and then suddenly got down on one knee in front of her and proposed. She said "yes" through tears, followed by minutes of applause.

Hahn was honest: "It was only on the journey here in the double-decker that I suddenly thought to myself that today was the ideal day for it. That's why I can't put an engagement ring on Hannah yet, because I simply don't have one with me. But I'll make up for it—I promise."

Captain Marc Lorenz (35) also announced the good news via the microphone. Following some difficulties in his negotiations, he is now staying. "Yes, I'm staying. As a native of Münster, my heart beats only black, white, and green. Next season, I'll be rocking the 2nd division together with these great guys here." Then it's off to Schalke 04, Hamburger SV, Hertha BSC, and more. How cool is that?

On the other hand, there was a somber mood when the goodbyes were said. Goalkeeper Maximilian Schulze Niehues (35), a member of the Prussian professional team since 2011, had a hard time controlling his tears when it was his turn. The "loyal Max" is voluntarily ending his career to start his new job as a teacher in the fall. "I am just incredibly grateful and happy for all the appreciation you have always shown me over the years. I will never forget that," he thanked the fans.

Also saying goodbye in front of a large crowd were winger Shaibou Oubeyapwa (31), substitute goalkeeper Roman Schabbing (22), midfielder Dennis Grote (37/will become U23 squad planner at VfL Bochum), and attacking player Darius Ghindovean (22), who each received a framed poster collage.

And of course, sports director Peter Niemeyer (40), who is moving to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen as the new "Head of Professional Football." His voice broke several times as he spoke with reddened eyes about four incredible years at Prussia. Niemeyer, who many consider the architect of success, has left a significant mark on Münster.

While most of the players are already on their plane to Mallorca on Monday morning for the team trip, the (still) sports boss will return to his desk in his office. He wants to continue working on the future second division squad at least until the end of the month. 100% Prussia—right up to the last second.

Last words from President Dr. Bernward Maasjost (66), who has already celebrated two promotions in his two years in office: "All good things come in threes. Next year in the same place again!" It would be nice. But of course, he doesn't really believe it either...
