Guns Were Drawn at Missouri's Hollywood Casino in Criminal Incidents
A bullet was discharged at Missouri's Hollywood Casino & Hotel St. Louis around midday on a Sunday. The bullet penetrated the structure, but there was no reported damage or injuries.
Authorities later apprehended a suspect identified as Razara Kelly. She stands charged with unlawful use of a weapon, as reported by Missouri TV station KSDK.
Kelly later explained to officials that the gunfire was a form of celebration.
Moreover, Kelly was alleged to have been driving recklessly nearby the gambling venue, according to St. Louis TV station KTVI.
6 Arrested, Machines Seized
On Saturday, law enforcement seized close to 35 electronic gaming machines during a raid of an illicit gambling establishment in Alabama's Walker County. Of the 6 individuals arrested at the scene, 4 had outstanding warrants from the Walker County Sheriff's Office, while 2 had outstanding warrants from the Jasper Police Department.
The confiscated machines were described as "big slot machines where cash is directly inserted into the machine", said Al.com, a regional news site.
In a Facebook post by the Walker County Sheriff's Office, they said someone overdosed at the venue. The person was later revived, but no one at the gambling den called for an ambulance.
Sheriff Nick Smith ordered the closure of the Mays Road gambling enterprise on Saturday night.
"Illegal gambling via the use of mostly random electronic gaming machines, combined with cash payouts, stays illegal in Walker County," stated the sheriff's office Facebook post.
Florida Authorities Seize 247 Devices
The Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida has recently shut down three illegal arcades. Confiscated in the process were 247 gaming devices and $109,246.
The three sites raided were Spin City (on Reflections Parkway in Fort Myers), Spinners Arcade (in Iona), and Lucky's Arcade (in Bonita Springs).
On Wednesday, Lucky's Arcade employee Stephanie Boughton-Hill was charged with drug possession and operating an illegal arcade.
According to Carl Herold, director of gaming enforcement with the Florida Gaming Control Commission, an individual who helps maintain the illegal arcade, whether or not they own it, violates Florida law.
He further commended the proactive actions by the Lee County Sheriff's Office in taking down illegal arcades that are detrimental to the community.
Counterfeit Money
Authorities arrested a woman attempting to use a counterfeit $100 bill at Bally's Evansville in Indiana.
Shatanya Bennett was found on the premises. According to Evansville TV station WFIE, she is on a list of people banned from Indiana's casinos.
In addition, when police interacted with Bennett, she provided a false name. But Bennett's true identity was uncovered when she accidentally revealed a correct ID.
Unidentified Dead Body
On Tuesday, a person was discovered near the parking garage of the Sparks, Nevada's Nugget Casino. The victim, whose identity remained unknown, had sustained several injuries beforehand.
The victim was initially taken to a local hospital, where they were ultimately pronounced dead.
The incident was still being investigated last week, with the cause of death unknown.
Shooting Outside Casino
On July 28, a 54-year-old individual was injured in a shooting that took place near Harrah's Casino in New Orleans. The victim, whose name remains undisclosed, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
No suspect has been identified or charged for the incident.
Criminal IDs
A patron was discovered with a fake identification card, a TSA ID, at Indiana's Hoosier Park Racing & Casino.
The individual, Ricky Lynn Mullens, was found by security and arrested.
Lost Winnings
In a tragic turn of events, a man lost $70,000 while playing a slot machine at a Georgia casino. However, he claims he was playing in his sleep, hence unable to stop his slot machine immediately.
Andrew Colbaugh said he is a severe sleepwalker and claimed to have played for 22 hours straight.
The casino, on the other hand, said he withdrew money from an ATM at 4 in the morning, which implies he was awake.
Georgia law allows casinos to keep all money lost while a person is asleep.
Shooting Inside Casino
In more casino-related violence, a fatal shooting took place inside Oklahoma’s Windstar Casino in April of this year.
The deceased person was identified as Charlene Euna Graham. It remains unclear whether a suspect has been identified or charged.
