The disappointment felt by Kiel after their home loss earlier in the week was strong. THW coach, Filip Jícha (42), stated, "I'm furious, dismayed, and enraged. (...) We just flung shots at the goal, even though we knew that Mikael Appelgren (34) was a master between the posts. You can't win anything with a 38% shooting accuracy - anywhere."
The Zebras made Appelgren famous for his impressive 18 (!) saves throughout the match, particularly in the first half. Jícha was especially upset that this happened in front of their home fans:
I'm sad and furious that we let this happen in front of our supporters.Will Kiel be able to make amends in front of their home crowd on Monday? The previous encounter with Göppingen, which saw THW win comfortably with a score of 34:27, should give them hope.
In addition, Frisch Auf! comes into this match in poor form, losing four out of their last five games. Their most recent loss was against SC DHfK Leipzig (27:30). However, despite a weak first half (10:18), Göppingen managed to make a comeback and make the game exciting towards the end.
Head Coach, Markus Baur (53), commented on this: "We fought hard after half-time. That's how we got close. In the end, we missed a few opportunities again and that's how we lost."
