The European Championship 2024 is soon upon us, bringing excitement to millions of soccer fans across TV screens!

Broadcasting the European Championship on TV and Live Streaming

Deutsche Telekom has been given the rights to broadcast the entire European Championship, consisting of 51 matches. Out of these, Deutsche Telekom will air four preliminary round games and one round of sixteen match exclusively on MagentaTV. The remaining 46 games will be broadcast on free television, with 34 games each being aired on ARD and ZDF. The remaining 12 matches will be shown on RTL.

Spectators wanting to stream the matches online can rejoice, as both ARD and ZDF will be streaming all their 34 matches free of charge. However, if you prefer to watch the matches live on MagentaTV or RTL (with ads), you'll need a paid subscription.

German Team Matches on TV

In line with the tradition of splitting broadcasts of German national team games, all German matches will be available on free TV. The decision for the opening match against Scotland (on June 14th at 9 pm) to air on ZDF has been made, while the matches against Hungary (June 19th at 6 pm) and Switzerland (June 23rd at 9 pm) will be on ARD.

If Germany advances, the free TV coverage would continue alternatively. All matches can also be watched on MagentaTV.

ARD's Hosts and Experts for the European Championship

ARD has recruited various big names and experts for their coverage of the European Championship. World champion Bastian Schweinsteiger (39), Olympic champion Almuth Schult (33), German champion Thomas Hitzlsperger (42), and tactics expert Thomas Broich (43) will all feature. Joining the team from the DFB headquarters will be presenter Lea Wagner (29).

Long-time hosts, Alexander Bommes (48) and Esther Sedlaczek (38), will be heading the broadcasting.

ZDF's Line-up for the European Championship

ZDF will provide a team of experienced football professionals. The experts include no other than Bundesliga player Christoph Kramer (33), world champion Per Mertesacker (39), and former Bundesliga referee Manuel Gräfe (50). Additionally, former German goalkeeper René Adler (39) will be featured in "Morgenmagazin" and "Mittagsmagazin". Sven Voss (47) will accompany the events from the DFB headquarters, with Amelie Stiefvatter (33) also contributing.

The show will be hosted by Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (58) and Jochen Breyer (41) as usual.

MagentaTV and RTL's Line-up for the European Championship

MagentaTV will be airing all 51 European Championship games live, including 5 exclusive ones. RTL, on the other hand, has the right to broadcast 12 games. A shared team of presenters and experts have been employed for both channels, which consist of presenters Johannes B. Kerner (59) and Laura Wontorra (35), and experts Michael Ballack (47), Lothar Matthäus (63), Tabea Kemme (32), Owen Hargreaves (43), and Shkodran Mustafi (32). The program will be broadcast from RTL's studio in Cologne.
