Greentube extends its presence in Switzerland.

Novomatic's subsidiary, Greentube, has secured another online casino deal, this time with Swiss Casinos. The move is set to strengthen the operator's presence in the Swiss iGaming market, which is now regulated. Swiss Casinos follows in the footsteps of Casino Interlaken, which signed a similar deal in early March. While these agreements are being made, Switzerland has updated its blacklist for unlicensed online gambling providers.

Swiss Casinos will become the third Swiss land-based operator to incorporate Greentube's online casino content into its assortment. The collaboration will allow the casino chain to introduce a range of online slot games from April 2020 that are already popular in the Swiss land-based casino scene. Titles like Queen Cleopatra, Super Cherry from Golden Games, and Novoline classics such as Sizzling Hot, Lucky Lady's Charm Deluxe, and Book of Ra are set to be included. Patrick Mastai, director of the online department at Swiss Casinos, highlights the value of the expansion, stating:

"Greentube offers a vast selection of games that players adore. We're thrilled to now offer these titles to our customers. Greentube's content will undoubtedly help enhance our reputation as a top entertainment provider in Switzerland."

Michael Bauer, Commercial Director at Greentube, is just as excited about the future partnership. He commends Switzerland's iGaming market for developing quickly into one of their significant markets:

"The Swiss online market is only a year old, and we're very pleased with how well our games have been received by local operators and punters. Signing a deal with Swiss Casinos, a leading operator, is an essential step for us to continue to expand in this country."

Greentube's Strengthened Position

Through these partnerships, Greentube can further cement its position in Switzerland. The country's regulations drastically limit the opportunities for foreign online gambling providers. In June 2018, the Swiss passed a controversial gambling law through a referendum. 73% of the voters were in favor of tightening the law.

Since then, online gaming can only be offered through land-based casinos. Such strict licensing regulations have also resulted in the creation of a blacklist of unlicensed providers. Network blocks have been used to prevent accessibility to these providers.

Strict Licensing Requirements

The regulations stipulate that only foreign operators who sign partnership agreements with land-based casinos will be granted Swiss online casino licenses. Since the market opened in July 2019, a total of six establishments - Casino Baden, Casino Davos, Casino Lucerne, Casino Pfäffikon, Casino Bern, and Casino Interlaken - have signed deals with various online casino partners. Greentube, which also powers the Stargames Casino in Germany, was among the first to offer its services on the Swiss online market. Casinos also have agreements with Evolution Gaming, Paf, Playtech, and Casino777.

Despite these partnerships, Switzerland is taking firm action against non-licensed providers.

Switzerland's Blacklist Expansion

Just a few days ago, Swiss supervisory authorities Comlot and ESBK announced that they had added 13 more domains to their notorious blacklist. The list includes Bet365.dk, which the authorities claim is the third Bet365 site to be added to the blacklist. Other new additions are Betbigwin.com, Efbet.net, Forzza7.com, and three websites using the Solobet brand - Sol0bet11.com, Solobet12.com, and Solobet13.com. The list has been growing since its inception in September 2019.

Out of the 104 websites initially included, several notable entities were featured, including Bet-at-home and Bet365. Unikrn and GG.bet are also part of the list, indicating that big names are not immune to the country's penchant for blocking websites without licensed operators. The blocklist is publicly accessible, and providers with unlicensed sites can expect further network blocks in the future. It remains to be seen if this strict approach is sustainable in the long run.
