Gordon Ramsay to Launch Hell's Kitchen Restaurant at Foxwoods Resort Casino

Famous chef and restaurant owner Gordon Ramsay is expanding his culinary empire to Connecticut through a partnership with Foxwoods Resort Casino.

To mark its 31st anniversary, Foxwoods revealed plans for the Great Wolf Lodge expansion, a 13-acre family-oriented amusement and entertainment complex. However, the big news was that Ramsay and the casino would bring a Hell's Kitchen restaurant to the property this summer. The announcement was made on Twitter, where Foxwoods thanked everyone who attended the celebration and announced the arrival of Hell's Kitchen.

The Hell's Kitchen restaurant, inspired by Ramsay's TV show of the same name, will be located in Foxwoods' Grand Pequot Concourse. It will sit 260 diners and include a chef's counter and a private dining room for 40 people.

Jason Guyot, Foxwoods' president and CEO, commented, "We are always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to enhance our guests' experience. The arrival of Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen and our partnership with one of the world's most influential chefs further solidifies our prestigious selection of world-class dining."

Hell's Kitchen at Foxwoods will feature a unique dining experience that combines the excitement of a busy kitchen with the comfort and sophistication of a high-end restaurant.

Foxwoods, managed by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, is one of the largest casino resorts in the US. Its 350,000 square foot casino floor houses more than 3,500 slot machines and 250 table games. To meet the needs of the thousands of daily visitors, Foxwoods offers a wide range of dining options, from grab-and-go fast food to fine dining.

Ramsay is opening his sixth Hell's Kitchen in the US at Foxwoods. This will be his first restaurant in Connecticut.

Before, Ramsay had Hell's Kitchen restaurants at several U.S. casinos, including Caesars Atlantic City, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and Harrah's Resort Southern California in Funner, north of San Diego. Through this new partnership with Foxwoods, Hell's Kitchen will join other celebrity-inspired dining at the Connecticut resort, such as David Burke Prime and Guy Fieri's Foxwoods Kitchen + Bar.

Foxwoods shares 25% of its slot win with the state of Connecticut through a gaming compact between the state and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. However, the expansion of casinos in nearby states like New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts has caused a significant decline in Foxwoods' revenue. In 2006, its best year, Foxwoods handed over $204.2 million to the state. In 2019 (pre-pandemic), it sent $110 million. During 2020 (the pandemic year), the state received less than $70 million.

Despite the challenges, Foxwoods and its fellow in-state rival, Mohegan Sun, have found new revenue sources through online gaming. After legalizing iGaming in March 2022 with interactive slots and table games, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun launched online sports betting. The benefits of these new ventures remain to be seen.
