Machine intelligence - Google enables AI add-ons in Germany.
Google's AI system, called Gemini, is now available to users in Germany and can be connected to various Google applications. The company announced this news in a blog post on Tuesday. This new feature allows Gemini to access services like Google Maps, Google Flights, Google Hotels, YouTube, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs.
In their blog post, Google explains that if you agree to link the relevant applications, Gemini will provide you with information from these services directly in the chat. You can easily disconnect the apps and services from Gemini whenever you want.
Here's how you might use Gemini's new capabilities when planning a trip with friends: If you've already discussed proposed dates and details via email, you can ask Gemini to review your Gmail conversations with your friends to determine which dates work best for everyone. Then, flight and hotel information can be displayed, and you can even choose YouTube videos that offer tips for activities. Additionally, Gemini can provide a summary of the trip highlights and email them to your friends.
With the launch of Gemini extensions, Google is primarily aiming to compete with Microsoft's AI function, "Co-Pilot," which enables access to Office documents and other personal data. Google first introduced its AI extensions in the United States roughly seven months ago.
