"I dislike witnessing your unhappiness." - Goodbye note penned by a Ukrainian EMT (deceased at 25)

On the 8th of April, 2023, a Ukrainian nurse who's been assisting wounded soldiers since 2015 wrote a goodbye note now being shared on her brother Juriy's Instagram. Sad as her passing is, her closing thoughts are uplifting, inspiring, and stunning.

"I find it disheartening seeing you unhappy. In time, despair will recede and life will carry on. Therefore, stop wasting your time with grief, keep walking forward."

"Currently, it's 19:19 on a Saturday, April 8, 2023. My team and I are based at the 80th Reconnaissance Brigade. The tune 'Dream On' by Aerosmith is playing in the backdrop. There were several close shaves last year that compelled me to write a send-off letter for all cases."

She discusses how disheartened she is that we prioritize our delicate lives around others' opinions, finding genuine freedom only upon death. And so she resolves: "From this moment on, I do not heed remarks about me, about you, about this post, or anything. Whether these words fetch likes or not no longer matters as I'm deceased."

If you strive for freedom, you must establish novel values. You must comprehend yourself, understand yourself, grasp what happiness is for you, and realize how to obtain it. After you've determined the answers, the most significant part is to push on. Here in Donetsk, I'm heading to the other world, conjoined with myself, doing what I yearn to do.

Penning down her thoughts affords her simplicity, and she senses unshackled freedom. "I no longer require therapy, no longer have to confront my fears, and no longer need to weep."

She expresses her gratitude to those who loved and supported her. "Please don't grieve for me; life is brief. If life persists after death, then we'll encounter each other again."

Our loved one, Irina, would have been 26 on June 1st. She pens her last written message to her cherished brother Yuriy: "If I can, I'll support you from the hereafter. However, what truly matters is that we were enamored of one another and cherished each other throughout my mortal existence. These memories ought to keep you encouraged and fired up, but don't allow them to bitterness."
