Climate: Updates on Current atmospheric conditions - Goodbye April with warmth: temperatures reach 29.2 degrees in Thuringia.

April's gloomy mood in Thuringia wrapped up with summery heat waves. Several spots reached higher temperatures on Tuesday than any other April 30th in history. The German Weather Service's preliminary readings, released in the evening, revealed this interesting detail.

Jena saw the highest temperature of 29.2 degrees, with Schwarzburg in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district clocking 28.1 and Starkenberg-Tegkwitz at 27.8. The latter reported the highest-ever temperature recorded on April 30th in Altenburger Land. In contrast, Kleine Inselberg in the Thuringian Forest experienced the mildest weather with a chilly 22.2 degrees.

May 1st appears to be equally stunning as the meteorologists at DWD forecast warm, sunny, and dry conditions, with mercury peaking at 24-29 degrees. Up in the mountains, temperatures will hover around 21-24 degrees - ideal for a pleasant getaway.

Forecasts predict that Thursday will continue with sunshine in the morning, however, there might be scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms later in the day and into the evening. DWD predicts highs between 21-25 degrees during this period.
