U19 fights for German championship title - Gladbach's key players in their title pursuit!
On matchday 33, Borussia's young professionals just barely secured their spot in the Bundesliga. Their U19 squad is working hard to win the German championship and will face TSG Hoffenheim in the semi-final first leg on Tuesday at 6:30 pm (Fohlenplatz).
The ultimate objective for coach Oliver Kirch's team is to make it to the finals. In the previous season, in the A-Junior Bundesliga West, the Foals came in second place with 53 points, falling behind BVB's 70 points.
Captained by 18-year-old Konstantin Gerhardt, these talented footballers have been an impressive bunch. Gerhardt is an analytical thinker and a skilled player in the middle of the field, missing only one of the 26 matches this season due to injury. His leadership has been crucial.
17-year-old Winsley Boteli is the top scorer of the U19s, netting 21 goals in just 22 league matches . His talent is also attracting attention from top European clubs like Juventus Turin.
Another key player is 17-year-old Kilian Sauck, a versatile German youth international with a street footballer's style - playful, confident, creative, and dangerous on the pitch.

Another rising star is 17-year-old Niklas Swider, a defensive midfielder and a DFB youth team member. According to Gladbach manager Roland Virkus, he is one of the most promising young talents from Borussia's roster.
6-foot-1-inch striker Jose Uwakhonye, now 16-years-old, can still compete in the U17 league. Recruited a few months ago, he made a significant impact by becoming the top scorer at BV 04 Düsseldorf's traditional Easter tournament.
