Gaming Companies DraftKings and Everi Feature in Top Employment Rankings
Gaming companies DraftKings and Everi have made it onto the 2024 edition of Energage's "Top Workplaces USA" list. This is a significant achievement for both companies, showcasing their efforts in creating a positive work environment.
Everi, a Las Vegas-based gaming device maker and fintech firm, has been included on the rankings for the third year in a row. The company specializes in manufacturing gaming equipment and also focuses on financial technology solutions. With its recent merger with the global gaming and PlayDigital units of International Game Technology (IGT), Everi stands out as the sole gaming-related business on the list. They boast a workforce of around 1,000 to 2,499 employees and have been recognized as a "Great Place to Work" in India for their offices. In addition to the national honor, they were also featured on the Nevada Top Workplaces and the Greater Austin Top Workplaces list.
Energage, a company that evaluates employee sentiment, conducted a survey amongst employees of private and public organizations across four different sized companies: 100-499, 500-999, 1,000-2,499, and 2,500+ employees.
DraftKings Shines Once Again
In the 2,500+ employees category, DraftKings managed to secure the 34th spot. This marks the second consecutive year that the Boston-based online sportsbook operator has appeared on the Top Workplaces USA list.
Known for their 3,100+ workforce, DraftKings has also been named one of the best places to work in New Jersey for this year. 2022 and 2023 saw them receive similar recognition in Boston and Las Vegas, respectively.
The other gaming entities in the large employer category that made it to the list were the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in New Jersey (ranked 38th) and Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, California (ranked 44th). Rush Street-operated Rives Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois, was the final gaming-related business on the list.
Why Employee Satisfaction Matters
Although the gaming industry, particularly land-based casinos, seem to focus primarily on customer satisfaction, it's crucial for companies like DraftKings and Everi to maintain a contented workforce. Professors from the University of Warwick reported that happy employees are 12% more productive than those who are less content. This enhanced productivity can lead to several advantages, such as increased creativity, employee retention, lesser absenteeism, and a more engaged workforce.
This benefit is particularly significant for companies like DraftKings and Everi that are publicly traded, as research suggests that stocks of companies with satisfied staff members outperform their competitors where workers are not content.
