Full House Colorado's newest casino hotel opens in Chamonix
Full House Resorts' (Nasdaq: FLL) highly anticipated Chamonix Hotel & Casino opens in Cripple Creek, Colorado, on Wednesday.
Named after the French Alpine community near the Italian and Swiss borders, Chamonix, along with Plaza America in Waukegan, Illinois, will likely be the most prominent and largest revenue generator in the whole-home portfolio.
Chamonix has an elegant casino floor with a wide selection of the latest slot machines, a high-limit slots hall and the most elegant table games area in the state," the statement read."Many hotels in Chamonix Rooms and suites feature balconies with breathtaking views of Cripple Creek, Pikes Peak and the spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains. "
Las Vegas-based Full House Resorts added that the entire casino and some of its 300 guest rooms and a pop-up restaurant will be open starting Wednesday.
More facilities in Chamonix
Chamonix has the potential to become one of the more luxurious and top-rated casino resorts in Colorado, and it will have the amenities to earn those titles.
The remaining rooms will be available next week, the operator said. Steakhouse 980 Prime is expected to open within a month. Barry Dakake will run the place. Dakake is well-known in gaming circles, having served as executive chef at the now-closed N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms and as "Barry" at the highly successful Barry's Downtown Prime in Circa in downtown Las Vegas.
Soon, Full House is expected to open a luxury jewelry store and its Chamonix spa. In addition to American Place and Chamonix, Full House operates two gaming operations in Nevada, one in Indiana, a Bronco Billy's in Cripple Creek and a Silver Slipper in Mississippi.
"The spa features a rooftop pool and terrace; a winter garden; a large training room with modern training equipment; eight massage rooms; and a selection of saunas, steam rooms and other facilities," Full House Resorts added.
Chamonix comes at the right time
Cities such as Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek in Colorado allow casino hotels. Although these locations cannot compare to Las Vegas, overall they are one of the fastest growing casino centers in the United States.
Aided by demographic tailwinds, including Colorado's growing population, driven largely by an influx of Californians, the long-term prospects for casinos in the Rocky Mountain State are increasingly bright. The next step for operators like Full House is to deter more in-state bettors from spending money in Las Vegas and attract more tourists to spend the night at the state's gambling venues.
Chamonix itself could be a catalyst, not only because Colorado's gaming market is growing rapidly, but also because the full-home properties will be top-notch, something Cripple Creek currently lacks.
