Fugitive Irish mafia boss leaves series of thoughtful Google restaurant reviews
An Irish criminal mastermind left behind a body and Google restaurant reviews while on the run from multiple governments.
Christopher "Christy" Kinahan, also known as "Classy Don," is the founder of the Kinahan drug cartel and one of the most wanted men in the world.
His gang has grown from small-time street crime, horse racing fixing and drug trafficking on the streets of Dublin, Ireland, into one of the world's largest transnational organized crime syndicates, according to the U.S. government.
But in one of hundreds of thoughtful comments Kinahan posted on Google between 2019 and 2023 under the pseudonym "Christopher Vincent," he admitted that he rushed out before waiting long hours for his food to arrive. Mitts and Trays restaurant in Blue Waters, Dubai.
"[It's] not that bad for adults, but when you have kids with you, it can be troublesome," he mused.
Bloody Feud
An Irish court has described the Kinahan family as a "murderous organization" involved in the international drugs and firearms trade.
In 2022, the U.S. State Department announced a $15 million reward for information leading to the arrest of senior Kinahan members.
Kinahan and his sons Daniel Jr. and Christopher are said to be holed up in a luxury villa in Dubai where they "witness global power alongside an army of gunmen and money launderers," according to The Irish Times.
The Kinahan gang disappeared from Dubai in 2016 after a bloody battle with rival Dublin crime group the Hutch Gang.
Earlier this year, a group of Hutch members armed with AK47 rifles and dressed as police stormed the Regent Hotel in Dublin during a boxing weigh-in organized by Daniel Kinahan.
The purpose was to eliminate Daniel Kinahan and his top lieutenants. The primary target escaped, but two Kinahan colleagues died in the shooting. In retaliation, twelve people were murdered by members of the Kinahan drug cartel.
Everyone is a critic
But Kinahan Sr.'s numerous Google reviews show that despite his legal woes, he remained an avid world traveler. According to The Irish Times, he has published restaurant and hotel reviews from Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Hungary, Belgium, Turkey, Egypt, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Hong Kong.
In fact, his profile has over 10,000 points and a “Level 7” guide rating.
In his comments, Kinahan comes across as a patient and somewhat critical businessman. One review in particular sheds light on his status as a transnational organized crime boss.
Regarding another restaurant in Dubai, he wrote: "I explained that I didn't like to be called 'chef', could you please call me 'Chris, Mr. Vincent or Sir'?"
"The waitress giggled," he added. "I didn't think much of it until we paid the bill...and as we were leaving, the waitress said emphatically, 'Thank you boss!'"
Despite some issues, he gave it four stars.
