What motivates Peter Christiansen? - Frosch's life was saved by Wolfsburg's ideal manager.
Peter Christiansen (49), ex-player of FC Copenhagen, has been selected as the next coach for VfL Wolfsburg. He'll be taking over from Marcel Schäfer (39) who plans on joining RB Leipzig.
Christiansen headed to Wolfsburg on Tuesday for final discussions with the Supervisory Board Chairman, Frank Witter (65). The transaction should be completed as soon as next week. Christiansen is a diligent worker and has some peculiar stories surrounding him.
The Frog Rescuer
In September 2020, a tiny frog found itself lost at the training ground of Aarhus GF. Sports Director Peter stumbled upon the animal, picked it up, and ensured its safety before the players' football shoes.
He shared, "I picked up the frog, left the stadium, and put it in the woods." He added, "It'd be a shame if it had to hop around there while footballers came for training on the field."
The No-Nonsense Trainer
In his playing career, he was known as an aggressive left-back. His hardcore temperament hasn't faded. "The players may feel they deserve praise," Christiansen declared in an interview with "Jyllands-Posten." "I will never be satisfied."
He added, "I don't care how the outside world perceives me. As a player, I was likely quite arrogant. All those years back, it was probably a form of avoidance mechanism. Currently, all I want is to perform my duties. Any media attention or public approval isn't a necessity for me. I don't want public recognition."
The PC
Christiansen is almost always called PC in Denmark, which doesn't symbolize a personal computer. This nickname is simply derived from the first letters of his name.
The Direct Communicator
This Danish is blunt and to-the-point. Players, fans, officials, and journalists can anticipate a frank and honest conversational partner. However, it could get loud, even against his own men.
"I don't pretend," Christiansen mentioned. "If I'm irked with the referee, it's because I'm truly irked. If I believe a player isn't playing to his potential, I can't help but shout. My intention is to win."
The Family Guy
While playing for FC Copenhagen (2000-2005), he met Camilla. They are now married and share four sons (Mads, Frederik, William, Alfred).
Once, Christiansen disclosed, "I usually say I watch other people's kids play football more often than my own."
