Moreira from St. Pauli - From the championship celebration to the global contest
Eighteen-year-old soccer prodigy Eric Da Silva Moreira, recently dubbed a world and European champion in the U17 category for St. Pauli, kept a low profile at his team's promotion celebration. Only a day later, he set off to Bremen to join the DFB's U18 team led by coach Hanno Balitsch. They're facing off against Denmark in an international match set for Wednesday at Verden an der Aller, kicking off at 12:30 pm.
A significant amount of former U17 champs have joined this age group now, as the previous triumphs must be carried forward. The brainstorming for the next season began over Whitsun, with Moreira's participation arranged later.
The days since have been hectic for Moreira, a right-back who played momentarily in the 2nd division. With his A-levels completing, he's been training regularly alongside the professionals and this is set to continue in the upcoming season.
Upon graduating from high school, Moreira intends to embark on his soccer career in earnest and become a significant contributor to St. Pauli's professional team. That's no easy mission, of course, in the Bundesliga.
