Friend of Britain's youngest lottery winner killed in suspected gang attack

An accused Scottish gangster shot dead outside an Edinburgh pub on New Year's Eve was the ex-boyfriend of Britain's youngest lottery winner, local media said.

Marc Webley, 38, was shot and killed while celebrating the New Year with friends outside the Anchor Inn in the Granton area.

Police said in a statement that they responded to reports of shots fired around 11:50 p.m. On New Year's Eve. One man was later pronounced dead at the scene and the other, a 39-year-old man, was "seriously injured but in a stable condition."

A police statement said a red Hyundai Tucson pulled up alongside the men on West Granton Road and carried out a "personally targeted attack".

Regret Millionaire

Jane Park, now 27, won £1 million ($1.27 million) in the EuroMillions lottery in 2013 when she was just 17 years old. At the time, she was working as a temporary office assistant, earning £8 ($10) an hour.

In 2017, Parker threatened to sue then-UK lottery operator Camelot for negligence. She claims she would have been spared the ordeal of winning millions if the legal minimum age to play the lottery was 18 instead of 16.

I thought it would make [life] ten times better, but it ended up making it ten times worse," she explained at the time. "People look at me and think, 'I wish I have their lifestyle. I wish I had their money. "But they don't realize how stressed I am. I have material things, but other than that my life is empty. What is my purpose in life?" she asked.

In recent years, Park has found herself known as an Instagram "influencer," with 213,900 followers and an OnlyFans page.

Tabloid versus

In October 2023, The Scottish Sun revealed that Parker and Granton were an item. However, the tabloid reported last month that they had apparently split.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this,” Park wrote on her Instagram Story on New Year’s Day.“We talked yesterday. If I could hug you one more time and tell you everything is going to be okay, I would give it everything, Mark. You’ve taught me a few things about life in the months we’ve spent together I will never forget you. I am absolutely devastated. The perfect bed for you is right there, my handsome man."

According to the BBC, Webley has been involved in gang violence in the past. In 2005, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the attempted murder of a rival gang member, a murder that was described as a failure. He was 19 years old at the time.

Shortly before his death, Webley posted two videos on social media in which he told enemies he would "come and get something" at the Anchor Hotel, seemingly inciting them to attack him.
