The young child vanished three weeks ago. - Fresh search for Arian now centers on local inhabitants.
Another search operation for Arian, a 6-year-old boy, begins in the northern part of Lower Saxony on Wednesday. Arian has been missing since April 22nd.
Law enforcement, with backup from riot police, will be interviewing residents living in Estorf, Hude, Brobergen, and Kranenburg. This information came from the police on Tuesday.
"The goal of this activity is to gather any information that hasn't been given to the police yet," a police representative stated. Police hope to receive new details from residents who were on vacation recently and to review videos from surveillance cameras.
The Oste River once more in focus
The investigation team intends to search the Oste River again on Thursday, with a particular focus between Arian's home in Bremervörde and Kranenburg. Sonar boats, divers, and specialized sniffing dogs will be used.
The Oste River is a tributary that flows into the Lower Elbe in Lower Saxony. It starts in Bremervörde and goes through the districts of Harburg, Rotenburg, Stade, and Cuxhaven before reaching the Elbe.
"The Oste quickly flows towards the Elbe and the North Sea. This river's direction depends on the tide's ebb and flow," explains police representative Heiner van der Werp. Yet another challenge: if Arian drowned, it's unclear when his body might have been transported away by the current.
"A body sinks to the bottom first, then rises when putrefactive gases have formed. However, due to the Oste's current cold temperature, this process could take longer than usual," the police spokesperson adds.
Security camera captures Arian jumping
Arian, who has autism, vanished from his parents' home in Elm, a Bremervörde neighborhood, on Monday, April 22nd. He wore only a thin sweater at the time. He didn't have any shoes on.
Over 1200 rescuers from the fire department, police, German military, Red Cross, Life Saving Society, and THW searched for the child. This was the biggest organized child search in Germany's history.
