German Basketball League - Free live stream of Vechta vs. Chemnitz playoffs available here!
The Niners Chemnitz lost 87-96 against Rasta Vechta in the second round of the Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga playoffs. This means that there will be at least four games before the semi-finalists are determined in this series.
Now, the series is tied 1-1 after Chemnitz experienced a setback in a crucial playoff home match. In the Sunday evening game, Rasta's Joel Aminu (27) set a new career high with 30 points. Long-range shots by the visitors spoiled the Niners' home win. The visiting team made 16 successful three-pointers, hitting them at an impressive rate of 53%.
After their win, Vechta's coach Ty Harrelson (43) said, "I'm very pleased to leave Chemnitz with a win from both games here. Our primary objective was achieved, and this is crucial for this series. Our team did an outstanding job." He also added, "We're excited to return to Vechta now and hope that some of our injured players will be back by Tuesday."
Chemnitz's coach Rodrigo Pastore conceded, "Our defense only held up for one quarter today. Vechta performed well, particularly when we had a short spurt. We must improve, especially with different lineups, which are quite solid on defense but couldn't make any impact today. We seemed much stronger in the last three or four games. We have 48 hours to figure out how to perform better, specifically in 1-on-1 situations, because that's where Vechta gave us a tough time and made so many impressive shots."
Without a doubt, Pastore's team must snatch at least one match to preserve their chances of progressing further.
