Similarly to Arian (6), he just fled. - Four-year-old boy with autism saved from pond.
It's similar to the disappearance of a six-year-old boy from Bremervörde, where his last known location was near a river. He's autistic—and just ran into the water!
Thankfully, local residents noticed the child getting into a pond in the evening and were able to rescue him before it was too late.
There was a previous incident where the boy managed to slip away from a playground on Stockholmer Straße. His relatives tried looking for him first but failed to find him.
His parents had even attached a GPS tracker to help locate him. However, he managed to remove it, tossing it into the bushes.
The police got word of this around 8 pm and deployed a massive search party. The kid was found walking toward a park, about a kilometer away from the playground.
The Child Enters the Water
A police rep shared that the child had a blue balance bike with him. He first sat down on a bench by a pond. "Then he just went straight into the water," she said.
Passers-by spotted the boy alone on the bench by the pond and immediately sensed something was off. They rescued him from the pond and alarmed the authorities.
Mildly hypothermic, he was rushed to the hospital. Early reports indicated he had no injuries. Later that night, his parents could embrace their child again.
Attraction of Autistic Individuals Towards Water
We can only envy the relief of the family of the six-year-old autistic boy from Bremervörde, who has gone missing for two weeks. After running away from home on April 22nd, he was captured on camera jumping, but he hasn't been seen since.
Concerningly, dogs trained to sniff out people picked up his scent near the River Oste's banks. They believe he might have darted or tumbled into the water.
Many autistic people find a calming escape in the sight and sound of moving water. "It's nearly impossible to evoke a positive feeling through the hubbub of ears and eyes," researchers have shared.
So, the overwhelming stimuli from these channels makes this attraction even more understandable for people who have difficulty drawing attention to themselves due to their condition.
