Fortune Cookie Predicts Lucky Lottery Numbers for Virginia Resident
Tierra Barley, a resident of Virginia, unexpectedly won $50,000 by using numbers from a fortune cookie to play the Powerball lottery. She matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball during the May 8 drawing which had the winning numbers 7, 41, 43, 44, 51, and Powerball 5. These lucky numbers were initially found in a fortune cookie she received with her Chinese food takeout. Barley faced one in 913,129 odds of success, but her fortune cookie message helped her overcome those odds.
Tragedy almost struck, as she left the ticket slip at the Varina Superstore Supermarket on Darbytown Rd. in Henrico. Fortunately, she returned to the store and found another customer purchasing tickets. This person had her ticket and generously returned it to her. Barley's fortune cookie luck occurred in Henrico, a city 10 miles northwest of Richmond, the Virginia capital.
