He recently took his child to a sports event. - Former baseball player discovered near a parked vehicle
Per several US news sources, ex-baseball pro Sean Burroughs sadly passed away at 43 years old recently. Right before this, he had dropped his 6-year-old child Knox off at a Little League practice where he was meant to coach. He experienced a heart attack and collapsed. They found him near the car, but it was too late to revive him.
Doug Wittman, head of Long Beach Little League, expressed his sadness on Instagram on Friday, stating, "With deep sorrow, I inform you that one of our coaches, Sean Burroughs, regrettably passed away yesterday afternoon."
Wittman continued, "Sean was a legend in the LBLL and the baseball world. While he went away to play for different MLB teams, he came back to Stearns Champion Park to mentor his son."
Burroughs was selected in the first round of the 1998 MLB draft. He first played in the MLB for the San Diego Padres in April 2002, performing as a third baseman. He also participated in the 2000 Olympics with the USA, earning a gold medal with the team.
Wittman added, "I was fortunate to train with Sean for the past two years, and he always had a lively and amicable disposition. Labeling this a significant loss is an understatement."
Finally, Wittman expressed, "Our sympathies and prayers will be with his family as we work to complete the season while playing the type of baseball that Coach Sean would be pleased with."
Paul Seiler of USA Baseball commented, "He behaved as a first-class representative of our country both on and off the field. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Burroughs family during this difficult time."
