Persistent rainfall in Blankenhain. - Following infection, Neuer returns to the field

In the drizzling weather of Blankenhain, a training ground in Thuringia, Manuel Neuer (38), a star from Bayern, showed up for the first time on Thursday. In the rain, he jogged around the field while having his initial goalkeeping training with his coach, Andreas Kronenberg (49). Meanwhile, Stefan Wessels (45), the newly appointed goalkeeping coach for the U19 to the A-National team, trained the other two keepers, Oliver Baumann (33) and Alexander Nübel (27).

Neuer had missed the beginning of the first EM training camp on Sunday due to a stomach-intestinal infection and stayed at home. On Tuesday night, he drove to the "Spa & Golf Resort Weimarer Land," and on Wednesday, he engaged in bike training in the fitness tent. Next week, Marc-André ter Stegen (32), a Barcelona goalkeeper, will join the DFB team as the fourth goalkeeper. It may take some time for ter Stegen to show up in the EM quarters in Herzogenaurach as the Spanish season is quite long.

Hansi Flick, the head coach, had confirmed that Neuer is the number one choice: "If he's fit, he'll be the number 1."

On Thursday, heavy rain hammered the DFB training ground. Fortunately, it eased a bit as the players arrived for training around 11 am.

Meanwhile, Leroy Sané (28) worked out mostly by himself with fitness coach Nicklas Dietrich, focusing on sprints and runs. He'd been dealing with shinbone issues in recent weeks and months, which had caused him to miss certain games for Bayern.

Ilkay Gündogan (33), captain of the team, had been present too. However, he hadn't been fully involved with the team practice until Wednesday. He'd arrived at the camp on Wednesday.

On Saturday, Toni Kroos (34) and Toni Rüdiger (31), who are finalists in the Champions League for Real Madrid, and Niclas Füllkrug (31) and Nico Schlotterbeck (24) from Borussia Dortmund will clash against each other at Wembley Stadium. These players have not been a part of the Thuringia training camp this week.
