Train services halted. - Fires erupt at Berlin's Alexanderplatz.

In the early hours of the morning, a fire broke out in a storage room spanning 50 square meters tucked under the train tracks at Alexanderplatz in Mitte.

At about 2:40 am, the fire department arrived with over 30 firefighters to put out the blaze, causing all long-distance train and S-Bahn services to be temporarily shut down as a consequence. According to a statement by the S-Bahn at 6 am, there are still delays and some cancellations continuing on this line.

By 4 am, the fire had been brought under control. It led to several businesses, namely a fast-food joint, an Asian eatery, and a bakery, being temporarily opened to allow the fire department to ventilate the area and clear out toxic fumes.

Police are currently looking into the incident as a potential case of arson.
