Greifswald is set to host a range of Nordic music, cultural, and artistic events in the coming days. The "Nordic Sound" festival is set to commence on Friday, and this year, the spotlight will fall on Estonian artists. The renowned Estonian soul singer, Rita Ray, has been announced as the opening act at Greifswald's Stadthalle.

The festivities continue with the Estonian Sinfonietta's musical performance at the St. Nikolai Cathedral, accompanied by the stunning newly-inaugurated church windows crafted by artist Ólafur Elíasson. The contemporary artist was inspired by the esteemed Romantic painter, Caspar David Friedrich, who would have turned 250 this year and was baptized in the very same cathedral.

Fans of a fusion between art and music, especially Caspar David Friedrich, will enjoy the international project "Oh, Caspar!" where texts inspired by the painter's works will be combined with electronic tunes, with the Danish National Gallery's director, Peter Nørgaard Larsen, giving a lecture on Friedrich's influence in Danish art history.

Violinist Johanna Seim, a Norwegian by choice, will treat attendees to a mesmerizing Hardanger fiddle performance at Greifswald's market square on a Wednesday. Meanwhile, a selection of around 40 poster designs by 35 students from Estonian art and design colleges have been exhibited at the city library since the end of April as part of a competition.

With close to 50 individual events spread across 17 different venues and lasting from May 2nd to May 12th, attendees can look forward to concerts, readings, films, exhibitions, and numerous scientific contributions, along with approximately 160 participants. It is estimated that up to 8,000 people may attend this event.
