Ferrari Partners with Marina Bay Sands for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix
Singapore's Marina Bay Sands resort is collaborating with Formula One (F1) team Scuderia Ferrari for a multi-year partnership, offering various events and promotions leading up to the Singapore Grand Prix in September.
Marina Bay Sands, known for setting the benchmark in the global integrated resort industry and owned by Las Vegas Sands, will not gain from the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix in November as Sands no longer maintains any casino holdings in the state. However, the Ferrari agreement allows the casino company to dive deeper into global sports.
F1 is gaining growing interest worldwide, with 2019's Netflix series "Formula 1: Drive to Survive" being a considerable reason. Although NASCAR remains the leader in U.S. motor sports, F1 has maintained its status as a prominent force in international racing.
The global sport drew in 5.7 million fans last year, marking a 36% increase from 2019. Formula One has recently signed new, profitable broadcast deals with ESPN and Fox Sports.
Marina Bay Sands Links with Scuderia Ferrari
Marina Bay Sands, one of the two integrated resorts in Singapore, intends to host an assortment of events and promotions relating to Team Scuderia Ferrari during September, partnering with the iconic "Prancing Horse" team and drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr.
Based in Modena, Italy, Scuderia Ferrari is F1's oldest and most successful team. The partnership between Marina Bay Sands and Ferrari this year will include Ferrari-themed activities, events, and promotions at the resort's casino complex during the Singapore Grand Prix event, officially scheduled for September 11-18.
A Ferrari SF90 replica racecar will also be showcased at the resort during race week.
Marina Bay Sands' Chief Operating Officer, Paul Town, commented on the brand's partnership with Scuderia Ferrari: "We're thrilled to introduce our partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, the most successful F1 team in history. We're looking forward to creating immersive experiences for our guests during the upcoming night race in Singapore."
The most striking aspect of the marketing contract will be seen across the city-state, as Marina Bay Sands plans to illuminate its three iconic hotel towers in Ferrari red during race week.
Paul Gandolfi, Scuderia Ferrari's head of partnerships, remarked that the collaboration with Marina Bay Sands was an ideal fit for both parties, as both are "united by luxury, ambition, and the pursuit of quality and excellence."
The Singapore Grand Prix: An Intense Experience
The upcoming F1 World Championship will encompass 23 races, with just four occurring under the lights. Two of these night races are Singapore and Las Vegas, held in cities renowned for their bustling vibes at night.
Designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the Singapore Grand Prix track is considered one of the more physically taxing F1 circuits due to its bumpy streets and 23 turns. Clocking in at around 5.066 km, the race involves 61 laps, totaling approximately 308 km. The defending champions, Sergio Perez and Red Bull, will participate in the event.
Singapore's circuit has welcomed former Ferrari and Red Bull-Renault driver Sebastian Vettel as its most successful driver, with Vettel having won the race five times.
