Not long after, both the biker from Borken and the Kia driver chose to overtake. When the motorcyclist swerves in, an intense collision occurs in his lane. "The 73-year-old woman's car then collides head-on with the oncoming 49-year-old car driver," quote the police.
The Kia slammed into the semi-trailer of the truck and then hit the crash barrier. The 73-year-old woman didn't make it, passing away at the scene of the crash.
Due to the strength of the impact, the motorcycle flew over the right-hand crash barrier and landed several meters into a field. Emergency services were unable to save the 59-year-old biker, who had to be airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Cooper driver sustained serious injuries and is also hospitalized.
