Protests or rallies - Female feminists' protest finishes early.
Not long after the "Take Back the Night - Queer-Feminist March" began in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the event's organizers decided to bring it to an end. Approximately 30 minutes after the march kicked off, some demonstrators separated from the main group and continued on side streets, according to the dpa news agency. Many others remained on Warschauer Straße.
Around 2800 people had attended the march altogether. Police spokeswoman Anja Dierschke revealed that they were responsible for cutting it short. Protesters had used pyrotechnics, thrown eggs, and even pelted stones. She couldn't provide information on any arrests made at that time. The last year had seen the same thing happen - the demonstration had been terminated early.
Before the march could even start moving, there was a significant delay. Its route was supposed to lead from Friedrichshain to Kreuzberg. The organizers anticipated up to 3000 participants this year. In the past, the police had faced attacks during the event, with bottles being thrown and officers sustaining injuries. They had prepared for similar incidents in 2021.
