Hanover achieves success! - Fee for attending riots with fireworks

Last season, Hannover 96 had to pay a huge fine of over 600,000 euros to the DFB.

This season will bring another hefty fine, estimated to be "over 1,200,000 euros for the entire season." The club anticipates this financial penalty due to incidents occurring in the stadium during home matches, mostly involving the burning of pyrotechnics.

In a midday announcement, 96 stated, "The levy will impact the specific areas of the stadium where these infractions occurred. Consequently, prices in these sections will increase by an approximate average of 22 percent."

Fan riots lead to surcharge!

96's leadership, headed by Martin Kind (80), had previously spoken about this potential surcharge. Now, the club is making it official.

While the cost of season tickets in the majority of the 96-Arena will only raise by almost five percent, seats in the notorious North Curve will undergo a significant price hike.

Season passes in the lower tier now cost €240, up from the initial €193. In addition, a pyro surcharge of €47 (approximately 25 percent) has been imposed, equivalent to nearly three euros more for each home match attended.

In the upper tier, usually occupied by the Ultras, season tickets will now cost €405 as opposed to the previous €344. This results in a riot surcharge of €61, representing 18 percent more, or roughly €3.60 additional cost per game.

Together, Hannover 96 is transferring almost half of the pending DFB fines onto the charged fans. However, it doesn't stop there. The club voiced, "Future association fines are also anticipated to contribute to ticket prices."

Further attempts to curb the pyro mayhem are also in the works. The 96 executive board revealed, "There may be additional measures such as the implementation of personalized tickets taken into consideration, as a possible solution for the upcoming 2025/26 season."

It's going to be intriguing to observe if other clubs will emulate Hannover 96's approach.
