Inundated by storms - Feces seeped into the Bad Berka outdoor pool area.
Approximately 8:20 pm on Saturday night, a storm bringing heavy downpour struck Thuringia. Neusaalborn, Blankenhain, and Bad Berka communities experienced the brunt of the rainstorm. Witnesses stated that there was more than 30 liters of rainfall in a brief duration. The rainwater quickly submerged fields and meadows.
The Klingelbach river exceeded its banks and swamped the grounds of the Bad Berka swimming pool, positioned right beside it.
The swimming pool suffered extensive damages. The city revealed that the toilets were immersed as well, causing a foul odour due to sewage being washed away. Despite this, the water in the pools remained pristine.
"As a result of this mess, our swimming pool must close temporarily since repairs are needed that will take a few days," the swimming pool crew reported on Facebook.
Additional harm was inflicted on the city of Bad Berka by the storm. The Trebestraße street was completely inundated. The fire department had to barricade the street and decontaminate it.
