3-to-1 advantage versus Kaiserslautern - Farewell gift: Dardai's final home victory
In front of 67,144 fans at the Olympiastadion, Hertha triumphs over Kaiserslautern with a score of 3-1. Goals from Haris Tabakovic (19th minute, his 22nd this season), Jeremy Dudziak (45th +3rd), and Fabian Reese (66th) secured the win for the Berliners against the struggling Palatinate, who only managed a goal from Ritter (38th).
This was a memorable send-off for coach Pal Dardai (48), who is playing his last home game as manager of Hertha. Dardai spoke to Sky Sports just before the match about the implications of his separation with the club in the summer, saying, "It's up to the management to make the announcement. I'm all about professionalism. We've been together here with many young players for a year, and it's hard not to be attached. We've established something special, but that's just the way it is. I always remain optimistic; after all, there are far worse things in life."
Hertha's managing director, Thomas Herrich (60), will not comment on Dardai's future prospects until later today.
There's been a rift between Dardai and the team management. While the bosses have been targeting promotion this season and will continue to work towards it next year, Dardai remains adamant that that hasn't been a goal of his. Instead, he's content with the team's impressive goals tally of 82 in all competitive games. Dardai has expressed his desire for the team to score 90 goals in total.
Having scored 85 goals after their game against Kaiserslautern, Hertha are now just five goals away from their coach's target in his final competitive match as manager next Sunday in Osnabrück.
