Mainz 05 Football Club Faces Challenges in the German Bundesliga - Farewell event held for Guilavogui
The club managed to sign a defensive all-rounder toward the end of the transfer window last year due to him being "clubless." This was in response to Mainz's injury crisis in the defensive lineup. However, Guilavogui picked up an injury in his second game for the team and only played in 11 Bundesliga matches which was not enough to warrant a contract extension.
Contrary to what some people may believe, the Frenchman has no grudge against Mainz 05 or the people responsible for his departure. In fact, there's a heartfelt video on the club's YouTube channel expressing his gratitude.
"I arrived a few months ago feeling determined and full of energy to help the team achieve our goal," Guilavogui recalls on the 05ER TV over the weekend. "And it was a beautiful moment when we accomplished that in the last game, which was in my former hometown."
He goes on to thank the fans, "You've been coming in bigger numbers, and you had a big hand in maintaining our position in the league."
Looking forward, he says, "I'm sure the coming season will bring a lot of great moments, but unfortunately I won't be part of it anymore. The club and I have agreed that our paths will go separate ways. But I'll remember the time I spent here fondly, as I've met many new people, played with good players, and had great experiences."
To wrap up, Guilavogui expresses a heartfelt message to the fans, "I know that Mainz 05 belongs in the Bundesliga and stays there, as you are just great. It's a fantastic team, great people in the club, and an amazing crowd!"
