FanDuel to Launch Golf Wagering Within Rounds Before FedExCup Tournaments Begin
FanDuel revealed on Monday its upcoming inclusion of in-tournament betting lines and challenges such as longest drive, closest to the pin, and other shot-by-shot wagering options.
In partnership with IMG Arena, a sports betting data provider that secured the exclusive rights to the PGA Tour's official data and video content stream in 2019, FanDuel Sportsbook users will witness an enlarged golf betting menu commencing with this week's St. Jude Championship. At TPC Southwind, the opening event of the 2023 FedExCup Playoffs, the top 70 season-long points earners are competing.
FanDuel was designated as an "Official Betting Operator" of the PGA Tour in August 2020. This designation permits the sportsbook operator to display the PGA Tour's emblems and commercialize within the Tour's transmissions and streaming platforms.
As an Official Betting Operator of the PGA Tour, we're constantly pursuing imaginative ways to improve the golf betting experience on our platform for enthusiasts when they watch their favorite competitions," said Christian Genetski, president of the FanDuel Group. "By integrating IMG Arena's Golf Event Centre into our sportsbook platform, we can furnish spectators with access to a comprehensive collection of live markets, offering them fresh methods to interact with the game on every hole."
The IMG Arena Golf Event Centre delivers live, real-time golf data from the PGA Tour to affiliated sportsbooks. FanDuel's online sportsbook, a partner of IMG Arena, operates in 19 states, including Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Expansion of Live Betting
The era of golf betting limited to pretournament and preround wagers is no more. American legal sportsbooks have been accommodating a host of various bets.
For this week's St. Jude tournament, sportsbooks are offering more than just outright winners and top-10 finish markets. There are also lines on which player would lead after Thursday's initial round. Betting enthusiasts can also choose from numerous head-to-head matchups, including whether Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy finishes higher.
FanDuel's connection with IMG Arena goes above and beyond with live, in-round wagering. Participants can wager on which golfer will come closest to the pin on a par 3 and who will hit the longest drive on a specific hole, all through the sportsbook's online application beginning on Thursday.
"Incorporating the Golf Event Centre into FanDuel Sportsbook will be a significant win for golf fans, who can now choose from a plethora of betting options as they watch their favorite players and tournaments," added Scott Warfield, vice president of gaming at the PGA Tour. "The Golf Event Centre should be a thrilling addition to the FanDuel platform, and we're thankful for their contribution to increasing consumer engagement in golf."
Bunker Bonus Bets
FanDuel will have a presence at TPC Southwind this week, as the sportsbook is a sponsor of the FedExCup Playoffs. On-site attendees will have a chance to attempt holing a bunker shot to win $5,000 in "Bonus Bets."
FanDuel will also offer bettors wagering on the FedEx St. Jude Championship on its online platform a 25% profit boost for wagers on in-round markets during the tournament.
