Fan evicted from Chris Angel's Vegas show claims magician assaulted him

Criss Angel helped a fan disappear from the "Mindfreak" show in Las Vegas on Dec. 29, according to a local police arrest report. Now the fan claims the magician attacked him.

Branden McDonald, 31, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a security guard who pushed him to the ground before heading to the lobby with Angel.

Reports say the Ontario, Canada, resident was caught by security using his cell phone during the banned performance and failed to respond to repeated requests to stop.

As Angel began walking back into the theater, MacDonald clapped his hands and leaned toward Angel aggressively, according to security. At this point, the security guard picked up McDonald, took him out of the hall, and made a citizen's arrest.

What doesn't appear in the report...

In a new allegation that did not appear in the arrest report, McDonald's attorney Adam Sollinger told Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff Burbank that before police arrived, Angel allegedly told McDonald, "I will." I will strangle you. "

Then, according to Solinger, Angell "put her arms around his neck from behind and began strangling him."

Solinger told The R-J that his client was "knocked down by security" as a result of Angell's alleged assault, which resulted in a sore throat and head injury, and that they are "currently exploring all of our options, both criminal and civil."

According to Solinger, McDonald didn't hit anyone but was "texting his sick mother" when security walked up and allegedly assaulted him.

McDonald is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on assault charges. A hearing is scheduled for March 5 in District Court.
