F1 prices plummet a day before Vegas Grand Prix
Ticket prices for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas continue to fall just a day before the festivities begin.
According to TickPick, prices for Saturday night's main event have dropped 23 percent since last week, with the lowest price for a grandstand ticket now down to around $800. That’s 50% cheaper than last month’s cheapest ticket of $1,645 and 60% cheaper than last year’s original low of $2,000.
Prices for training and qualifying have dropped further. Grandstand seats for Thursday’s practice were $919 last year and are now $119, an 87 percent drop. Friday qualifying tickets, which sold for $1,085 last year, are now $259, down 76 percent.
Why downforce?
Most experts blame the lack of demand largely on the fact that these tickets are the most expensive F1 tickets ever sold. Another factor is Max Verstappen and Red Bull's victory in the 2023 World Championship, which all but guarantees their dominance at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Other possible factors include cold weather and the dwindling popularity of Netflix's F1 docu-series Drive to Survive after five seasons.
The public has spoken this year," TickPick CEO Brett Goldberg told CNN, adding that he doubted Formula 1 would compete at the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix Reduced pricing for grandstand seats.
However, despite falling prices, Goldberg expects the three-day event to be "well attended" as prices fall and supply meets demand.
About 105,000 people are expected to watch the game at 10 p.m. Saturday, departing from the ticket location.
