Picking a different choice - Explosion at Werder
At the start of March this year, it was evident that the veteran would carry on with Bremen.
Professional manager Clemens Fritz (43) said at the time: "We'll talk about when and how he'll continue with us. But I'm ecstatic that he'll stay with us because of his character."
Now, this looks fundamentally different. In an interview with "Kicker," Groß discussed his future intentions - and currently, there's no connection to Werder.
"I'm incredibly grateful to Werder for everything they've done for me. But I've chosen a different course. I'm getting the opportunity to experience something new - which I also need to rejuvenate myself," said the still-playing professional.
Groß elaborates: "Then, I'll move on to another club in a different role."
Following four years collaborating with Werder professionals, which he joined in the summer of 2020 as captain of the U23s due to personnel shortage, this partnership is drawing to a close.
Prior to assuming his new position, however, the defender is taking some time off with his wife and children. "We'll explore Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii as a family."
