Ex-President Trump seeks to grant clemency to Ulbricht, Silk Road creator.

Ulbricht was the mastermind behind the Silk Road, an online drug-trafficking platform that flourished due to its use of Bitcoin for transactions. This site also allowed users to purchase weapons, counterfeit IDs, and even hire contract killers. Ulbricht became a millionaire from these activities.

In 2015, Ulbricht was found guilty of various charges, including drug trafficking. He received two life sentences.

Despite these charges, there's strong support for Ulbricht within libertarian circles. This group promotes an unregulated economy, the legalization of drugs, and opposes social benefits as intrusive government involvement in the free market.

Trump, a Republican, tried to win over the Libertarian Party by promising to work for Ulbricht's release during his appearance. The audience reacted positively, with some cheering in support.
