The 6:5 victory of Bochum over Duesseldorf during the penalty shootout is seen as a miracle by many. Fortuna sadly missed the promotion to the 1. League, while VfL successfully maintained their class position.

Fortuna's manager, Klaus Allofs (67), spoke with "Sat.1" after the game: "This isn't a miracle. A Bundesligist can certainly catch up with a 3:0 against a second division team. They played well today. Stoeger was the game-changer."

He continued: "I said beforehand that we needed two strong games. Today wasn't a strong game. To those who placed bets on a draw, I wish they were right. We cannot be blamed for taking it lightly. We thought too much, played too stiffly, and were overly tense before our opposition scored their first goal. The worst thing that can happen is when a game like this is determined by a penalty shootout."

Allofs then looks to the future: "Next season, we'll start again. The consolation is that there's an incredible second league."
