High-speed Crash Occurs - Envious speedster serves three and a half years in prison
A man from Palatinate, aged 24, faced the Frankenthal District Court due to an attempted murder charge. However, as the trial progressed, the prosecution backtracked, and the accused received convictions for reckless endangerment of road traffic, unauthorized removal from the accident site, and bodily harm in three instances.
For his rage fueled by delusions of love, the man was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. Furthermore, he lost his driving privileges.
The events occurred in May 2023, following an argument with his then-girlfriend, when the convicted defendant accelerated his Audi RS3 on the A65 in Rhineland-Palatinate. To maneuver his vehicle between two other cars, a crash took place. Thankfully, no one suffered severe injuries.
The 24-year-old and his girlfriend fled the scene but were captured by the authorities later on.
A hazardous relationship filled with violence
The trial revealed the rocky relationship between the skilled engineer and his significantly older partner, which featured frequent violent confrontations. Both have since parted ways. Present in the courtroom was the new girlfriend of the hothead.
The prosecution advocated for a four-year sentence, while the defense sought a probation sentence of two years.
