Approximately 500 professionals from various industries and politics attended the English: "German Startup Awards" ceremony in Berlin on Thursday evening. This event paid tribute to the founders, investors, and fresh faces in the sector.

One of the main themes of the evening's discussion at the Tipi am Kanzleramt was the improved optimism we're seeing in the German economy. This is a positive shift from the doom-and-gloom that's been pervading the country for some time.

Opening the ceremony was Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck (54, Greens). He stressed the importance of being forthcoming, innovative, and accepting of those we might not know. "The German economy has faced some challenges," Habeck admitted, "but the pressure on us all is high." He then pointed out that startups are uniquely equipped to handle this stress. They have the ability to approach challenges with an "it can turn out well" mindset.

Verena Pausder (45), the CEO of the German Startups Association, echoed these sentiments. She underscored the ongoing importance of supporting this industry and warned against the dangers of conformism or nationalism. Pausder emphasized the importance of diversity and the rejection of far-right political parties like the AfD. She believed that the startup scene, which boasts a significant number of immigrant founders and employees from all corners of the globe, was a prime example of the power of diversity. She went on to state that the startup sector would be responsible for creating the majority of jobs in Germany over the next decade and for driving the innovation necessary to keep the nation competitive.

Awards were given to recognize the achievements of investors, founders, and up-and-comers in the industry.
