Union crisis tackled candidly by Gosens. - "Entirely accountable"
Robin Gosens, Union Berlin's star player, expressed his thoughts on Instagram following the club's dismal 3:2 defeat against Cologne. With this loss, the Berliners find themselves in a precarious position and stand in 16th place, raising concerns about their chances of staying in the Bundesliga.
In the wake of this disappointing result, Gosens conveyed: "We are totally responsible for our situation. The fact that our own fans don't boo us but instead encourage us despite a game like yesterday speaks volumes about the faith they have in our ability to turn things around. This club is unique."
In the aftermath of the game, Union Berlin's Ultras approached the team to voice their support. Captain Christopher Trimmel (37) expressed the core message of the meeting: "We can only succeed if we work together. We've exhausted all options so far. Now it's up to us to change things."
Gosens remains optimistic, stating "We still have a final on Saturday. Anything is possible. Thank you for your support, Union fans!"
Interestingly, ex-Union player Leonardo Bonucci (36), who played for the Iron from September to December, commented on Gosens' post with a motivational message: "Let's go, brother. Keep your head up and never give up."
Union Berlin's only hope would be to stay determined and make a comeback in the remaining match.
