In Frankfurt, enigmatic golden bicycles have sparked curiosity. These mysteriously positioned bikes started appearing on the streets recently, and authorities' efforts to identify the culprits failed. On Tuesday, the city relayed this update, stating that they couldn't find out who had altered the scrap bicycles, painted them gold, and scattered them across town. Apparently, the bikes created obstacles for traffic and parking spaces for regular bicycles, so they'll be taken away.
The story began in mid-April when the first golden bicycles showed up. Speculations about the motive and artist of this supposed art project have been flying around since. The bikes had scrap labels, indicating these were abandoned bikes that had been sitting in a public space. The city first marks them with stickers and then removes them after some time.
