Political unrest and clashes in Grünheide. - Enemies of Tesla plan to invade company facilities.
A group of demonstrators aggressively approached the factory perimeter, causing altercations with law enforcement. Tesla opponents were physically escorted away by officers. The police were ensuring the safety of railway tracks, power and water lines, and a nearby transformer station near the automobile factory. It remains uncertain how the protestors managed to breach through the barrier.
What's clear is protesters organized sit-in blockades inside a circus tent on the Grünheider Festwiese, on the square in front of it, and against a police barricade. Their strategy: to walk in front of the car factory on Friday and Saturday.
The police are concerned about occurring incidents similar to those faced on Tesla's power supply in March. The notorious "Vulkan Group" expressed online their anticipation for "an intriguing week of action" and proclaimed "plenty of opportunities to target corporations like Tesla."
1,200 Tesla opponents have congregated
Security Measure 1 has been active in the forest and lake community of Grünheide near Berlin since Thursday. Police vehicles are stationed at all corners and intersections. Water cannons guard access roads and factory entrances, whilst equestrian units monitor the forest.
Protestors from Germany and abroad arrived on-site yesterday at the Grünheider Festwiese for a protest camp against the car factory - approximately 1,200 Tesla opponents signed up.
Protestors erected tents. Banners of Palestine and, slightly modified, of the terrorist organization RAF are waving. The sound system has an inventory number from the TU Berlin's Asta.
Backstory: On May 16, Grünheide's local council is predicted to approve the development plan for the car factory expansion. "We will affect municipal representatives to make sure this doesn't happen," clarified Manu Hoyer from the Grünheide citizens' initiative.
And if the local council votes in favor of the factory expansion? "We will remain until Tesla is halted," declared Roman from the protest camp. Authorization for this gathering expires on May 20.
