Zabaykalsky Krai Locks Down Amid Deadly Pasteurellosis Outbreak in Livestock

The emergency was announced after concerns grew over a potential large-scale outbreak. In response, the region’s acting first deputy prime minister, Buyanto Batomunkuyev, now heads the crisis management headquarters. Governor Alexei Tsydenov oversees the emergency response centre, coordinating efforts to limit the disease’s impact.

The restrictions aim to halt the spread of pasteurellosis and protect remaining livestock. Compensation plans for affected farmers are now underway. Roadblocks and movement controls will continue until authorities deem the situation safe.
