Young prodigy from Arsenal's academy bids adieu to the club following mutual agreement, having made senior team appearances this season.

Malcolm Ebiowei, a former Arsenal academy graduate, has left League One side Blackpool after less than a month, according to a brief statement released by the club. The 21-year-old midfielder joined Blackpool in August, signing a two-year contract at Bloomfield Road.

Ebiowei's departure comes following just four appearances for the Tangerines, with his last outing coming against Port Vale on September 17. The midfielder made his Blackpool debut off the bench in their season opener against Exeter City. He also featured as a substitute in matches against Plymouth Argyle, Mansfield Town, and Port Vale.

Steve Bruce, Blackpool's manager, and the club mutually agreed to terminate Ebiowei's contract due to undisclosed reasons. Ebiowei was conspicuously absent from Blackpool's matchday squad for their 1-1 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers last weekend, further fuelling speculation about his departure.

Prior to joining Blackpool, Ebiowei had a journeyman career since leaving Arsenal's academy setup in 2019. He spent six years with Chelsea's pre-academy setup before four seasons at Arsenal's Hale End youth base. Ebiowei has also had spells at Hull City, RWD Molenbeek in Belgium, Oxford United, and Scottish Premiership side Rangers, as well as Championship outfit Derby County.

Ebiowei signed with Derby County in 2021 and made 16 appearances at Pride Park. He also had a five-game stint with Premier League club Crystal Palace. However, his time at Blackpool did not materialise as planned, and he is now a free agent.

Blackpool, under Steve Bruce, currently sit fifth-bottom in English football's third tier. The club's statement regarding Ebiowei's departure was 25 words long, indicating a swift and amicable parting of ways. Transfermarkt values Ebiowei at £1.2 million.
