Yamaha's 2025 FZS Hybrid Model Evaluation: Does the Technology Enhance the Driving Experience?

The Japanese automotive giant, Yamaha Motor Company, has unveiled its latest offering - the 2025 Yamaha FZS Hybrid. This motorcycle promises a blend of efficiency and performance, making it an attractive choice for riders seeking a fuss-free and reliable machine.

One of the standout features of the FZS Hybrid is its impressive fuel efficiency. According to Yamaha, the motorcycle delivers a staggering 60 kmpl (ARAI) with the Smart Motor Generator (SMG) technology. In city conditions, the FZS Hybrid returns a fuel economy of 49 kmpl, while on the highway, it manages 51 kmpl.

The FZS Hybrid is equipped with a 149 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that develops 12.2 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The motorcycle also boasts a start/stop system that works seamlessly, providing a smooth performance and refined engine.

The FZS Hybrid maintains good stability on the highway and remains flickable in the city. However, it lacks the excitement that some riders may be looking for, especially younger ones seeking a fun motorcycle. In terms of overall performance and rideability, the FZS Hybrid doesn't outshine motorcycles like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160, and Hero Xtreme 160R 4V.

The FZS Hybrid comes with visual changes, including turn indicators integrated into the fuel tank shrouds and new graphics. It also features a 4.2-inch TFT display, new switchgear, and Bluetooth connectivity for navigation, call and SMS alerts, last parking location, and malfunction notifications.

The FZS Hybrid offers progressive disc braking performance with single-channel ABS. While it doesn't offer dual-channel ABS or USD forks, it still provides a safe and confident riding experience. The rear suspension on the FZS Hybrid feels firm, providing a stable ride.

The new FZS Hybrid is available in a special shade of grey and blue, as well as a grey shade. It retails at ₹1.45 lakh (ex-showroom), a ₹10,000 premium over the standard FZS. For those interested in exploring other options, the Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid is priced at ₹1.50 lakh.

In conclusion, the 2025 Yamaha FZS Hybrid is a smooth, efficient, and reliable motorcycle that caters to riders seeking such characteristics. However, it may not appeal to those seeking a more exciting ride. For those looking to expand their options, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid, Yamaha FZ-X, Yamaha FZS FI V4, Yamaha XSR155, Yamaha FZS-FI V3, and Bajaj Pulsar 220 F are other bikes worth considering.
