Yakutia's gold output surged by 20%
In the remote regions of Ust-Yanskiy and Verkhoyanskiy in Yakutia, a significant development is underway. The Kัััs gold deposit project, the largest in the mining industry in the Arctic zone of Yakutia, is set to revolutionise the region's gold production.
The project, led by Andrey Kuznetsov, is expected to add an additional 10 tons of gold to Yakutia's production. This ambitious project has proven reserves of 175.2 tons of gold, with resources exceeding 250 tons.
The efforts of several mining companies, including Polymetal, Polus Aldan, Seligdar, Nordgold, TZRK, and Zapadnaya, have contributed to this significant improvement in Yakutia's gold production. In the first quarter of the year, gold production in Yakutia has improved significantly, increasing by 20% to reach 9.5 tons.
The Aldan and Olekmin regions have been the leaders in terms of gold production, with extraction exceeding 3 tons. These regions are significant contributors to Yakutia's gold production, alongside the new Kัััs gold deposit project.
Yakutia's Minister of Industry and Geology, Maxim Tereัะตะฝko, has praised the efforts of the local workers, stating that they continue to set new records. He is proud of the local workers for their role in making Yakutia one of the top three gold producers in the country.
In 2023, Yakutia became the second-largest gold producer in Russia for the first time, with approximately 50 tons extracted last year. This impressive achievement has not gone unnoticed, with Russia's Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far East, Yuri Trutnev, and Yakutia's Head, Aisen Nikolaev, emphasising the project's significance for the region and the entire Far East.
The increased gold production in Yakutia is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the local workers and the mining companies involved. As the Kัััs gold deposit project continues to develop, it is expected to generate taxes and new jobs, primarily for local residents of the two regions. The future of gold production in Yakutia looks bright, thanks to the Kัััs gold deposit project.
