Yacht manufacturer Azimut appoints renowned architect De Lucchi for the creation of Magellan 27M model.
New Explorer-Voyager Yacht Debuts: The Magellano 27M
The yachting world is abuzz with excitement as the Magellano 27M, a new explorer-voyager boat, is set to hit the production line later this year or early in 2026. This latest addition to the Magellano line is the third generation of a vision that first debuted in 2009.
The exterior design of the Magellano 27M is the work of Jarkko Jämsen, a first-time collaborator with the Avigliana group. Known for his clean lines and industrial imprint of joints, Jämsen has deliberately avoided excess and complex curves to create a sleek and modern look. Large floor-to-ceiling windows and calibrated proportions are key features of the design, making the boat both visually striking and highly functional for long travels.
The interiors of the Magellano 27M are a debut in yachting by AMDL CIRCLE & Michele De Lucchi. The duo had previously designed Azimut Yachts' installation at the last Milan Design Week. The interiors feature light woods and softened natural light, making it a space where light is the real protagonist. The main deck is designed as a large loggia on the sea, with architectural elements reminiscent of Mediterranean pergolas and patios.
Giovanna Vitelli, the president of Azimut/Benetti, strongly pushed for the creation of the Magellano 27M. This was a challenge, given her father and founder, Paolo Vitelli, initially had concerns about the project. However, the success of the Magellano line changed his mind. The 43', 50', 60', 66', the 25M, the 30M, and the 27M are still in production.
The Magellano 27M is expected to make its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, where it will be housed at All'Annex Beach on Cannes' Croisette beach. The first Magellano boat was a 74-footer, followed by the 76'. The Magellano 27M can still be categorized as an explorer-voyager, designed to create a space that is better suited for long travels.
Jarkko Jämsen is a known name in yachting, and this collaboration with the Avigliana group marks his first time working on a Magellano boat. AMDL CIRCLE & Michele De Lucchi had previously designed Azimut Yachts' installation at the last Milan Design Week, and their work on the Magellano 27M interiors is a testament to their expertise in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces.
The Magellano 27M is set to be a game-changer in the yachting world, offering a unique blend of style, functionality, and durability. With its clean lines, industrial imprint, and focus on light, it promises to be a standout addition to the Magellano line. Keep an eye out for the Magellano 27M at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026.
