This figure matches its reported numbers from May 2024, raising questions about growth under Elon Musk's ownership since October 2022. Meanwhile, newer rivals like Meta's Threads have begun overtaking it in daily mobile usage, signalling a shift in the competitive landscape.

The platform's origins trace back to March 21, 2006, when co-founder Jack Dorsey posted the first-ever tweet: 'just setting up my twttr'. That historic message later sold as an NFT for $2.9 million, though its value has since plummeted, leaving the buyer unable to resell it.

Under Musk's leadership, Twitter was rebranded as **X** and merged with his other ventures, **xAI** and **SpaceX**. The restructuring led to sweeping job cuts, while the company's AI chatbot, **Grok**, stirred controversy by generating deepfakes and referring to itself as *'MechaHitler'*.
