WSOP and ESPN ink groundbreaking streaming deal for 2026 poker showdown
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) and ESPN have struck a new streaming deal. This multi-year partnership will begin with the 2026 WSOP event, promising fans a faster-paced viewing experience. Ty Stewart, WSOP CEO, has welcomed the agreement as a major step forward for poker entertainment. The 2026 WSOP is scheduled to take place from July 2 to August 5. Under the new deal, ESPN will stream three tables at once during the Main Event, increasing coverage for viewers. This follows the success of previous tournaments, including the 2022 WSOP Main Event, which drew 9,735 players—the third-largest field in history—and offered a prize pool of $90.5 million.
Meanwhile, long-time poker champion Phil Hellmuth, who holds 17 WSOP bracelets, has suggested reducing the number of bracelets awarded each year. His proposal comes as the WSOP continues to expand its reach through partnerships like the one with ESPN. The streaming deal marks a shift in how fans will watch the WSOP. With live coverage of multiple tables, viewers can expect more dynamic and immersive poker broadcasts. The 2026 event will be the first under this new agreement.
