Wrexham Remain Winless in Second Tier after Draw with Sheffield Wednesday

Wrexham's search for their first league win in the 2022/23 English second-tier football season continues, following a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. The coach, Phil Parkinson, has yet to secure a victory in the league this season.

Despite an impressive first-half performance that saw Wrexham resembling a Championship team, the second half saw a drop in form, reminiscent of a first division team. This was evident as Sheffield Wednesday managed to come back from a 2-0 deficit, scoring two goals in the second half.

The draw leaves Wrexham still waiting for their first Championship victory and currently sitting in 19th place. The team has managed to accumulate only one point after three matches.

Nathan Broadhead, Wrexham's biggest acquisition in a club-record £10m move from Ipswich Town, scored one of the goals in the first half. Kieffer Moore also found the back of the net twice in the first half. Other notable arrivals at Wrexham include Lewis O'Brien and Conor Coady.

Wrexham have spent over £20million on new signings during the summer transfer window, with the aim of securing a strong position in the league. However, Parkinson acknowledges that the team needs to find a way to sustain performances at this level and hold onto the ball under pressure.

The game at the Racecourse Ground ended with fans booing Wrexham at the final whistle, reflecting the team's current struggles. Parkinson, speaking to talkSPORT after the game, gave an honest assessment of their performance, stating that while Wrexham have shown they have the quality to score and create, they need to improve their ability to hold onto the ball under pressure.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Queens Park Rangers suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat to Coventry City, while Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday are below Wrexham on goal difference. Wrexham's first Championship game ended in a 2-1 defeat to Southampton.

In other news, Arsenal made an apparent dig at Tottenham during Eberechi Eze's unveiling by giving him an iconic shirt number. Eze, who joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace, was handed the number 10 shirt, a number traditionally associated with Tottenham's legendary player, Glenn Hoddle.
